GIFs won’t solve the world’s problems, but I think GIFs can make people smile for a few seconds. They were considered unfashionable until about 2007 when they became a form of entertainment and art on online forums and blogs and mobile devices. GIFs were introduced in 1987 and were early options for decorating webpages. It’s something I’ve always wanted to learn how to create and Genius Hour is the perfect time to try. I own a graphics tablet and I’ve created drawings on it, but I’ve never made an animation. I like to watch behind-the-scenes videos of animators discussing their storyboards and inspirations. I love to draw! I’m also a big fan of animated films and TV shows.
I also want to take what I’ve learned and create a tutorial. I would like to learn how create an animated GIF from my own drawings. I’m so excited for this opportunity!įor my Genius Hour project, my questions to myself are:Ĭan I make an animated scene and share a tutorial that could help others to make their own? What software will I need? How can I share a tutorial with my class? Genius Hour is a weekly hour dedicated to researching an interest outside of the school curriculum.
